Darryl Atwaters

Darryl Atwaters is a seasoned nonprofit leader and fundraiser with over two decades of experience driving community transformation through philanthropy, leadership development, and strategic relationship-building. As Director of Development at Bonton Farms, Darryl leads fundraising and partnership initiatives that advance the organization’s mission of restoring health, creating jobs, and cultivating hope in South Dallas. His work centers on connecting people’s generosity to purpose—empowering Bonton Farms to expand its reach through sustainable community-based impact. 

In addition to his role at Bonton Farms, Darryl serves as President of the National Black MBA Association–Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter, where he champions education, economic empowerment, and leadership opportunities for Black professionals. He also co-leads the Advancement Committee for the National Black MBA Association, guiding national strategies to strengthen partnerships and fundraising capacity. Darryl serves on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals–Dallas Chapter, where he contributes as Executive Conversations Chair, fostering dialogue that elevates ethics, diversity, and innovation in the philanthropic sector. 

Before joining Bonton Farms, Darryl served in various leadership roles with Young Life, where he coached and equipped teams across multiple regions in philanthropy, leadership development, and donor strategy. His work has consistently focused on creating systems that sustain growth, deepen relationships, and inspire generosity rooted in community transformation. 

 A native of Memphis, Tennessee, he holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Public Administration from the University of North Texas, a Master of Business Administration from Texas Wesleyan University, and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, focusing on theology, ethics, and the future of generosity. 

Guided by the belief that “true transformation happens when access meets opportunity,” Darryl is passionate about cultivating relationships that help communities flourish—spiritually, economically, and relationally.
